See, Do & Eat!

There are many sights to see in and around Lyme Regis. Below are some of the places we have enjoyed over the years.

There are many guided walks around Lyme, try Literary Lyme Walking tours.

One of our favorite walks out of Lyme, is the river walk to Uplyme, always stopping off at the Talbot Inn for beer, and great food. Try this walk by turning right out of the cottage and straight over at the bridge, then keep walking! When you get to Uplyme turn left out of the gates to find the Talbot.

Our children have had hours of fun in Dinosaur land in Coombe Street, fun for all the family, with lots of fossils and dinosuars to be found.

Lyme Regis Bakery, Award Wining Bread

One of The Southwest Food Award Winners of 2012 is  Lyme Regis Cheesemonger, One Of Britain's 50 Best Food Shops. All you could ever wish for, for a vast array of cheeses. Visit

For the thrill seeking, why not try Lyme Bay Rib Charter, take a look at their gallery page at www.lymebayribcharter.co.uk

Now, food is very important to us a family. Over the years Lyme has become a sort of 'Foodie Mecca' as it was decribed in May 2011 by City AM. Thanks to the likes of Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, and his River Cottage HQ near Aminster and the Ax Canteen in Axminster. There has been more of an interest in the area for other talented and well known Chefs. Mark Hixs' Oyster and Fish House, not only boasts stunning local fish, but has one of the best panaromic views of Lyme Bay.

The international Chef Mark Hix's Restaurant, Stunning food all year round!

The other places we like to visit to eat whilst we are here are:

Jurassic Seafood & Wine Bar for meat and fresh fish.

The Alexandra Hotel for afternoon tea.

The Millside Restaurant located at the town mill.

And if there are a lot of us, we love the Standard down on the front, pretty much has stayed the same for some twenty years,  but also offer great food, that will keep all members of your family happy.

Also some favorite local pubs with local beer.

The Volunteer for a vast array of real ale

The Ship Inn, lovely atmosphere

The Cobb Arms, lovely view of the Cobb.

Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall's River Cottage is a short drive away, we recommend booking before your stay.

For the freshest fish for you to cook in the cottage, look no futher. Just a short walk through the gardens to The Old Watch House.

How about a bike ride? Try the lovely folk at www.lymeregiscyles.co.uk These helpful chaps will save you bringing your own bike!

As you can see there are many wonderful things to See Do & Eat here in Lyme Regis. Fabulous food to try, wonderful people to meet, and if it all gets a little too much, Cobb Hill seems a little too daunting and the Marine Parade appears to stretch to Uplyme, you could always call on the hottest thing on three wheels...... Tukxi! For more information on this cheeky little Italian please check out the webpage below. Remember he's the only thing on wheels to conquer Sherborne Lane!
